The First Steps… program is offered for children 2.5-6 years old as an introduction into exploring the joy of dance through song, dance, and movement. These young dancers come to class once a week and participate in our annual dance recital.
In our Stepping Up… program dancers further explore their love of dance through combinations of study in different genres. Length of class increases as dancers progress in age, ability, and interest. Dancers study 1-3 days per week and are involved in the recital and are invited to participate in other DMDC events.
The Steps Ahead… program or Dancer Preparation Program (DPP) inspires and challenges dancers who want to reach their full potential. Eager dancers are offered an array of intensive training and performing opportunities through DMDC’s in-house faculty and industry professionals. Through auditions, class evaluations, and the goals of the individual, a personal dance curriculum is carefully designed for each dancer. Emerging young artists study 3-5 days a week and are also invited to audition for our resident dance companies and participate in other enrichment opportunities. Dancers considering dance in college or at a professional level are encouraged to immerse themselves in this program.
Classes and workshops for Adults are offered throughout the year. From Ballet, to Ballroom, to Bellydance, these classes and workshops in dance and fitness are designed to capture and refuel your own joy of dancing. Something for EveryBody- beginners to experienced adults.
Many Enrichment Opportunities are offered to all our students fostering a true appreciation for the arts. Dancers are encouraged to take master classes taught by guest artists and choreographers, summer classes and intensives, workshops, and convention and competition experiences, and field trips. Dancers who desire a future in arts education may participate in our Dance Teacher Apprentice Program.
The Donna Miceli Dance Center’s resident dance company, The Youth Dance Company, encompasses six unique performing groups. The company affords aspiring young artists, ages 7- adult, the opportunity to explore their talents and creativity through a range of diverse performing and educational experiences. Company repertoire ranges from jazz to tap, hip hop, musical theater, and contemporary, providing our dancers as well as audiences a rich artistic experience. The companies participate in community outreach programs, convention and competitions, arts festivals, concerts, lecture demonstrations, and more.
The DMDC experience has led many of our graduates to pursue thriving careers as teachers, directors, choreographers and performers in the dance industry. Our Alumni perform in national ballet and modern dance companies, with Broadway touring companies, the Rockettes, cruise lines, music videos, Las Vegas, and film. The Donna Miceli Dance Center takes tremendous pride in the success of all of our dancers.
