Dance Events

The Youth Dance Company was founded in 1972 to provide a vehicle for aspiring young dancers to explore their talents and creativity.  Community Outreach is the performing focus for our resident dance companies.  Over the years, the company has presented both fully produced and informal productions for school, civic organizations, TV, and community festivals.   Recent past performances include Lowell’s Winterfest, Move for the Movement, Dance for a Cause, The Santa Project, and Boarding House Park Summer Children’s Series.

In addition to community outreach performances, the Youth Dance Company sponsors Master Classes and Guest Choreographers for all DMDC students and dancers in the community.  Company dancers attend conventions throughout the season to further their dance education and experience.  At West Coast Dance Explosion and Nuvo, many of our students receive recognition during auditions and several dancers have been awarded scholarships and titles at regional and national levels.  Our pieces submitted in competition receive the highest awards for both technical and performance quality.   In addition to these local showcases, The Youth Dance Company has performed at the prestigious Jazz Dance World Congress and in Germany at the World of Dance Festival.
